Cambodia is gradually shaking off its harrowing past, and the country’s resilient people are focusing instead on celebrating the rich cultural treasures of their fascinating land. The country’s colourful heritage is deep rooted and evident throughout the land - from the elegant European architecture of its colonial cities, to the spectacular temples of Angkor Wat, and the verdant green countryside laden with sugar palms and rice paddies. The country borders Thailand, Vietnam and Laos, which we all ruled by the mighty Khmer Empire at one time. Influences from these neighbours, along with that of its colonial ruler France can be recognised in the Cambodia’s cuisine, language and architecture.
