Capital of Sichuan Province and located in the western plain of the Sichuan Basin, Chengdu is a city of cultural and historical significance dating back over 3,000 years, and today serves as the provincial centre for politics, economy, culture and transportation. Considered one of China’s Super Cities, it may not be an obvious choice for sightseeing, but visitors will be pleasantly surprised by the quaint tea house culture and incredible (if fiery) food on offer. In fact, the city has been awarded by Unesco a City of Gastronomy - the first of its kind! More than anything else however, tourists flock here to see the infamous giant pandas, which are native to Sichuan. Travel by Timothy Oulton can help design a wonderful experience to see these cuddly animals, please do get in touch with us to discuss!
