About Los Angeles
Many traveller visit Los Angeles to experience Hollywood, but as the A-Listers themselves know, there is so much more to the City of Angels than the Walk of Fame and Universal Studios. Despite its sprawling metropolis status, LA is indelibly tied to nature. Dense, vibrant neighbourhoods back onto shimmering beaches, wide boulevards meander up to flower-carpeted hillsides , and huge sapphire blue skies are an IMAX screen for lingering sunsets to capture the imagination.
Culturally, LA is heaving - both in terms of its edgy arts and design scene, and also in terms of its continuing film industry success. Eaves-drop into a conversation at one of the city’s celeb food haunts, and find yourself immersed in the world of film scripts, auditions and project funding. Perhaps as a result of the city’s celebrity culture, health and fitness play a very important part in the lives of local Angelinos. There are more vegan restaurants than you can throw a stick at and all manner of fitness studios and gyms abound. The lasting impression one gets from a visit to LA however is the wonderfully relaxed pace of life, and it’s difficult not to feel a touch of envy at the easy access to beaches, surfing and hiking, as well as the colourful cultural scene that just gets better with time.
