About Luang Prabang

Luang Prabang is the old capital of Laos and is situated in a narrow valley shaded by tall jungled mountains. The Mekong and Khan rivers meander through the valley providing fertile soil for the many rice paddy fields bordering the edge of the river banks. This ancient mountain kingdom has been in existence for over 1000 years and was listed a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. The town itself exudes remote tranquility and a casual air of grandeur thanks to the French influence in its architecture. The cuisine here is the most refined in all of Laos and the culture is rich and abundant. It is a particularly authentic place to visit with tourism levels still relatively low so we urge you to visit soon!
