2015 marked the beginning of a new era for this ancient and complex land, where the landscape is scattered with gilded pagodas and the traditional Asian customs remain very much intact.
Myanmar, formally known as Burma is emerging from more than 50 years of military dictatorship, and its 55 million strong population is enjoying its freedom while having to catch up with modern life. The country finally has WIFI, but only 10% of the population own a mobile phone! For as long as the trappings of the modern world have not yet caught on in Myanmar, it will remain a fascinating and engaging country to visit. Its people are friendly and welcoming to foreigners, and its pristine 12th century pagodas and gorgeous beaux arts building are for now, incredibly well preserved.
