About Sihanoukville, Kampot, Kep and the Southern Archipelagos

Sihanoukville is the jumping off point for the growing number of private island resorts cropping up on Cambodia’s southern archipelagos, such as our current favourite - Song Saa Private Island. Sihanoukville itself is an unattractive port town and has little to offer in terms of culture or history, so we would recommend moving on to the more interesting alternative of Kep, which was developed as a retreat for the French elite in the early 1900s. This seaside resort is growing a reputation for its seafood restaurants, pretty National Park and tasteful boutique hotels. Around a 45 minute drive from Kep lies the river town of Kampot, which is another interesting town to discover with its beautiful National Park and pepper farms.
